Guests walking a haltered alpaca through the woods near Malden
Experience 3

(Private) walking with alpacas

Always private, just you and your own party

Looking for an (inter)active experience with the alpacas? Then a walk is the perfect choice.

Our walks are small-scale and personal. As one of the few farms, we always walk privately, with just your own party (accompanied, of course, by a member of the Elshof Alpaca’s team).

On arrival we first tell you a little about our special alpacas and give you time to get used to each other. Then we set off.

The paths are largely unpaved and also lead through the woods. Please wear sturdy footwear and clothing that covers your arms and legs, as there may be bramble bushes and narrow paths through dense undergrowth.

As a rule, two guests look after one alpaca.

  • Group size: minimum 2 (full-paying guests), maximum 12
  • Duration: about 1.5 hours. There is of course plenty of time for selfies and photos.
  • Wear sturdy footwear and covering clothing

Prices

2 people (fixed price)€40.00 per person
Groups of 3 or more€30.00 per person
Walking with alpacas is not suitable for children under 12. The route is also not accessible with prams, buggies or wheelchairs. For younger children we recommend the Meet & Feed. Dogs are not allowed.

Pick a free date and time in the booking calendar. Your booking is confirmed straight away and you receive a confirmation e-mail; you can pay online in advance or on the day (cash or card).

Coaching or team building

Alpacas as unique co-trainers

Alpacas are not only adorable and calming, they can also make a valuable contribution to strengthening team dynamics. Used as unique co-trainers, alpacas contribute to, among other things:

Connection and a stronger team spirit

Walking and working with alpacas together outdoors in nature creates a shared experience that strengthens team spirit. It helps colleagues get to know each other in a new way and deepen their relationships.

Building trust and cooperation

Working with alpacas requires cooperation and trust. The animals respond strongly to people’s energy and attitude, so team members learn how their interaction and group dynamics affect the group.

Practising patience and flexibility

Alpacas work at their own pace. This teaches teams to be patient and flexible – qualities that are essential for smooth cooperation and dealing with change.

Relaxation and stress reduction

The calming effect of alpacas helps teams let go of tension and stay in the moment. This contributes to a more positive working atmosphere and better mutual understanding.

We guide teams in small groups of up to 10 participants. For this we work together with Margo van de Brink of GoBrink coaching. The programme for this activity is agreed in consultation, and coffee/tea/lunch etc. can also be arranged.

Come and experience for yourself how alpacas help build a stronger, closer and more resilient team!

  • Group size: up to 10 participants
  • Coffee, tea or lunch can be arranged on request
  • Programme and price are agreed in consultation

Choose your preferred date in the booking calendar and send your request. We will then get in touch to agree on the programme and the price; once we have agreed on it together, your appointment is fixed.

Frequently asked questions

Good to know before your visit

Can I just drop by?

No, all activities are by appointment only. The alpaca activities are a hobby alongside our jobs, so visiting times depend on our work schedule. Pick a free date and time in the booking calendar; your booking is then confirmed straight away. Questions are always welcome via the contact form or WhatsApp.

Which activity is suitable for children?

The Meet & Feed is fun for young and old; children in a pram are free. Walking with alpacas is not suitable for children under 12, and the route is not accessible with prams, buggies or wheelchairs.

Can I bring my dog?

No, dogs are not allowed at any of our activities. Alpacas are prey animals and get stressed by dogs.

What should I wear?

For the walk: sturdy footwear and covering clothing, as the paths are largely unpaved and lead through woods with bramble bushes and narrow paths. For the picnic: suitable, warm clothing, because even in bad weather you are in the open air (dry, in the barn).

Are alpacas cuddly animals?

Alpacas are curious and gentle, but by nature they are not cuddly animals. You can try to stroke them while feeding, and during the Meet & Feed one alpaca is always haltered for a short while so that you can really stroke and cuddle it.

What about cancellations and dietary requirements?

Cancelling or rescheduling is free of charge up to 48 hours in advance; after that we may charge the full amount. We cannot guarantee catering for dietary requirements or allergies, but we are always happy to discuss the options. See also the terms and conditions for activities.

Can I give an activity as a gift?

Yes! In the web shop you will find digital gift vouchers from €25.00 to €200.00, which can be spent on all our experiences. The recipient picks a date in the booking calendar, mentions the voucher code in the comments field and chooses to pay on the day; we deduct the voucher on the day itself.

Not sure which experience suits you?

Send us a message with your wishes, your preferred date and the group size. We are happy to think along with you – all activities are by appointment.
