Buying alpaca wool: which size do I need?
You want to buy alpaca wool against blisters, but you are hesitating between 10, 20 and 40 grams? In this short buying guide you choose, in a few steps, the bag that suits your feet and your walk or run.

Choose the right amount in 3 steps
Alpaca wool – also called anti-pressure wool, walking wool or runner’s wool – is used in small tufts per spot. So the right size does not depend on your shoe size, but on how many spots you treat and how often and how long you walk.
Do you have one or two regular spots, or several spots on both feet? The more spots, the more wool you use at a time.
A single walk needs less than a training block or a multi-day trek. If you walk often or far, choose a larger bag.
10 grams for a few spots, 20 grams for heels and big toes, 40 grams as a supply for several days or the Four Days Marches.
Still unsure? Then start small with 10 grams of alpaca wool to discover how the wool works for you, and order a supply later.
The three sizes compared
- 10 grams of alpaca wool – €10.99. For smaller blisters between the toes and sore spots on feet and toes. Ideal to try out.
- 20 grams of alpaca wool – €18.50. For blisters on big toes or heels and other sore spots. Our most popular size.
- 40 grams of alpaca wool – €29.99. A supply for several days: ideal for long hikes and walking events. Best value per gram.
Which size suits you?
- An occasional walk or one weak spot? Choose 10 grams of alpaca wool.
- Walking regularly, heels or big toes? Choose 20 grams of alpaca wool.
- Four Days Marches, a multi-day trek or a whole walking season? Choose 40 grams of alpaca wool.

Questions about buying alpaca wool
Which size of alpaca wool should I buy?
It depends on how many spots you treat and how often you walk. 10 grams of alpaca wool is enough for a few spots between the toes, 20 grams of alpaca wool for heels and big toes, and 40 grams of alpaca wool is a supply for several days or the Four Days Marches.
How much wool do you use per spot?
Less than you think: a tuft the size of a fingertip is often enough for one spot. A bag therefore lasts longer than many people expect.
Isn’t 40 grams too much for one walk?
For a single walk, 10 grams of alpaca wool or 20 grams of alpaca wool is usually enough. 40 grams of alpaca wool is good value when you want a supply for a whole season, a training block or a multi-day walk.
What does alpaca wool cost and how is it shipped?
The bags cost €10.99 (10 grams), €18.50 (20 grams) and €29.99 (40 grams). We ship with PostNL within the Netherlands (€4.95, usually within 1 to 3 working days), or you can collect them in Malden by appointment.
